A change of venue saw us travel to Yarley near Wells instead of Saltash because of a water logged track. We dicided to leave early on Sunday morning and got to the track for 7.30am and after driving through rain for 11/2 hr wondered if the meeting would be cancelled. The track was wet to say the least and being on top of a hill it would soon dry out. Practice lap was straight forward enough and Liam came back covered in mud. The blasters were out first which meant that Liam could get a change of cloths and watch the blasters lines on a few corners. The track went like glass! The mud was compacting and being polished by the spinning tyres. After much deliberation, and determination to give the juniors a ride, by Steve Day and his team, a repositioning of the lap score truck, two attemts at a fresh track, and general mucking in, the juniors finaly got under way.
Liam got a flyer of a start and got the holeshot. A good battle then took place between Liam and another rider, Luke Davies, with the lead changing hands a few times over the next few laps until his bike scised, giving Liam little competition for a few laps. Pit stop was frantic with not only fuel but a change of goggles, cleaning of radiator protector plate, and a drink for Liam. Somehow he had lost 3 places in that time and after another 45 minuets of sliding around in the mud he came in a respectable 4th out of a field of 30 starters.
